On November 12, the PlayStation 5 (PS5) – Sony’s latest console model, officially hit shelves in some markets such as the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Mexico and South Korea. Due to the influence of COVID-19, Sony only sells PS5 through online channels. Currently, only customers who pre-order the PS5 will receive the device. Meanwhile, buying PS5 on online channels in the US such as Walmart is currently considered impossible, due to oversupply situation.
Notably, right after being sold in the US, the first PS5s were brought to Vietnam by the Halo Shop system (Ho Chi Minh City) to Vietnam. According to the representative of Halo Shop, the first PS5 to be carried back to Vietnam was sold for up to 34.5 million VND, many times higher than the original price of the product. However, some of the customers who had a lot of money immediately went ‘down money’ as soon as the device arrived at the store.
This is the standard version (integrated 4K Blu-ray drive) of the PS5, with a price of about 499 USD in the US market.
Meanwhile, the diskless version (Digital Edition) has a cheaper price of about $ 100, exclusively for gamers who regularly buy digital games on the PS Store platform.
Similar to previous PS models, the device comes with a wireless handle, with accessories such as a USB-C cable, HDMI cable, and power cord. Notably, Sony also provides a stand available, allowing users to mount the PS5 in a vertical or horizontal position when placed on a cabinet.
Through the initial feeling, the PS5 has a pretty modern ‘appearance’, with a white, slightly curved outer shell wrapped around a black ‘box’ in the middle. The size of the PS5 is also especially large compared to the consoles currently on the market, such as the PS4 Pro.
If previous generations of Sony consoles often had two separate black and white tones (and versions), with PlayStation 5 alone, this console was only available with a black-white combination.

Handles and accessories included with the machine. Users can stand the machine upright or horizontally on the supplied stand.
In terms of specifications, the latest PlayStation version is particularly powerful when equipped with an 8-core CPU with 3.6Ghz Zen 2 architecture, 16GB of GDDR6 RAM, a custom GPU based on AMD’s RDNA 2 architecture. . In particular, PS5 will also support the latest Ray-tracing graphics technology today.
In addition, the PS5 integrates an SSD with a capacity of 825GB, replacing the very slow hard drive used by each on the PS3 and PS4. This is an NVME SSD, with a maximum data reading speed of up to 5.5GB / s, making game load times ‘almost instant’.

The side edge of the PS5 uses glossy plastic material, giving a fairly modern feel.
According to Sony, users can easily ‘cut open’ the PS5 to clean the device, or replace internal components.
The PS5 comes with a brand new DualSense gamepad, which integrates many different features compared to the PS4’s Dual Shock 4 gamepad. For example, DualSense’s Adaptive Triggers feature automatically adjusts the bounce of the L2 and R2 buttons, depending on the player’s action game.
In terms of design, the DualSense handle has more rounded edges than the DualShock 4, with two color schemes blending white and black.
However, the position of buttons, 2 analog sticks, touchpad bar, and 2 buttons Option / Create (Share) remains the same.
The DuaSense handle uses a matte material, suitable for gamers who sweat a lot. Interestingly, the rough texture on the handle has the familiar triangle, square, and round buttons.
At the moment, there are not any PS5 exclusive games released yet. The vast majority of games still appear on both PS4 or multi-system, along with the PS5 version. However, thanks to the backwards compatibility feature, players can fully experience 99% of PS4’s game library right on the PS5, with improved performance and resolution.
Users can insert PS4 disc into the PS5 player. The machine will automatically install as usual. Currently, PS5 also supports 100% Vietnamese interface.
Some PS4 titles are also provided by NSX with free graphical upgrade patches to take advantage of the PS5’s hardware, for example Assassin’s Creed Valhalla.
The free space on the PS5 without any game installed is 650GB. With current titles ranging from 70-100GB, users can install about 8 titles at the same time.
Currently, the launch date as well as the selling price of PS5 in the Vietnamese market have not been announced by Sony Vietnam. According to some Sony dealerships in Hanoi, this latest console model can be launched in Vietnam in December.
