There is nothing more difficult than starting to develop a manga, and the blank pages are the greatest obsession of the authors. However, ending a series that has lasted more than 3 years is a challenge that not everyone successfully completes. Whether good or bad depends on the reader’s perceptions, there are exceptions when the audience is frustrated by the ending too much.
1. Bleach (2001 – 2016)
As one of the longest running manga, Bleach did not meet the expectations of its readers. In 15 years of publication, it has attracted millions of readers around the world. Even for 9x readers, Bleach and two more manga, Naruto and One Piece, have become an unforgettable childhood memory. However, with every new story chapter released, Bleach readers are even more curious: “How can you end a series like this and still make the reader happy?”.
And in fact, Bleach cannot do this. Not to mention the disappointing ending after the episode reached its climax, letting the protagonist get rid of all his strength and return to the life he never wished for was a big mistake. After all these years of fighting, Ichigo returns to her old place, gets married, has children and lives a peaceful life? This is clearly not something the reader has ever imagined. At the very least, let him continue with his mission, even if it’s just the Temporary Grim Reaper.
2. Hikaru no Go (1998 – 2003)
Known in Vietnam as “Ky Thu Co Vay”, this series used to be the focus of discussion among many readers. Hikaru Shindo boy accidentally discovered the old Go set of his grandfather and the spirit of Fujiwara no Sai – the old Go player who committed suicide still remains in the world. Gradually, Hikaru was taught by the master of Go and became a professional player.
It was when the friendship between Hikaru and Sai was strongest together that the series came to a standstill. Hikaru participates in the world tournament and encounters Korea. And then, everything that the series has possessed up to now suddenly… stopped. After the tournament, with just one promise of something even higher in the future on the last page, Hikaru no Go suddenly ended. Rumor has it that the author of the series was involved in image copyright suspicion when bringing a Korean player into the series. However, for that reason, it is very regrettable that a monument slopes without braking.
3. Ranma 1/2 (1987 – 1996)
Rarely is a manga fan who has never read Ranma 1/2, even when it was edited quite a lot when published in Vietnam. It used to be the most prominent name in America and one of Viz Media’s best-selling publications. Ranma 1/2 is also considered as one of the first and most memorable manga on the subject of transgender. What happens when a guy who is both handsome and good at martial arts suddenly turns into a girl because of a stupid mistake?
However, in the final chapters, Ranma 1/2 was a big disappointment. Thought there would be a beautiful wedding and everyone expected Akane to appear in a bridal dress, but in the end, it was nowhere to be seen. The incident resumed in the Tendo house, the wedding was delayed, Ranma still had no cure. And there is not a bit of information about the ending, but only the depressed emotional lines of the author with our characters.
4. Get Backers (1999 – 2007)
Ginji and Ban are the only two members of the Get Backers team specializing in “getting back” anything lost from the customer. However, before “getting” back the items for the customers, they must find … customers first, this is the beginning of an extremely interesting and popular series of days ago. Ginji and Ban gradually go through adventurous but equally interesting and meaningful adventures. And that comes with revelations about a mysterious city that can give you everything you want.
Indeed, the way to lead Ginji and Ban to that city is not boring BUT what happens there is what surprises readers. It turns out that Ginji only lives in a virtual world created by his mother. In fact, Ginji has been dead for a long time ??? And everyone he knows is a fantasy, not even Ban is excluded. And despite this extremely unreasonable detail, Ginji and Ban still “return” to that virtual world and continue to find their mother for Ban … This is definitely not a reasonable end for the Get Backers duo. .
