Marvel fans recently got behind the scenes of a number of works from concept designer Phil Saunders. Those works revealed a glimpse of the earlier proposal for the Chitauri soldier’s design. That early artistic idea of the Marvel Cinematic Universe revealed a very different look at the villains in The Avengers movie.
According to Saunders, the overall aesthetic trend is largely influenced by Justin Sweet and Ryan Meinerding. Although the original Chitauri design features quite similar to their final appearance on the big screen in The Avengers, there are some notable differences in the original concept.
Saunders’s Instagram post is not too different from what we see in the movie. The Chitauri soldiers appeared in the MCU through The Avengers in 2012. They and Loki were seen as the first threats in the attack on New York, but in reality, the true loyalty of the soldiers This is again with Thanos.
During the battle for the Tesseract, it was also assumed that these soldiers were under Thanos’ control for a long time because of their presence in Avengers: Infinity War, which saw the demise of Gamora people.
