Stuffing jungle mechanics into Gladiators and Assassins, Riot Games’ next wrong move?

Recently, a series of changes on the test server and the representative’s notice Riot Games all claim that they will expand the general pool to diversify the jungle position. In the immediate future, names include Darius, Garen, Diana, Talon, Zed, Mordekaiser has all been added mechanisms to jungle on the PBE server. Even if it’s good, Riot Games will continue to do this to other champions. But is this really necessary?

Riot Mark Yetter announced that: “If the jungle tank expansion in patch 10.4 goes well, they will continue to do so with other champions.

With nearly 150 champions, Riot Games has an extremely large number of characters in all positions, including the role of jungler. The current forest has all sorts of common generals from wizards (Elise, Karthus, Gragas ..), Gladiators (Lee Sin, Olaf, Rek’Sai …), Assassins (Kha’Zix, Rengar, Shaco …) to Resist (Zac, Amumu, Sejuani …) Sniper (Kindred, Graves) to Support (Ivern). Besides, there are other singular options like Poppy, for example.

The jungler pool has been a lot already, there are strong champions, some weak champions are only due to meta, not League of Legends too lack of junglers

That said, the current jungler class is diverse enough, the current champion pool meets all the requirements of gamers, a few overwhelming options compared to the rest are ignored because of the meta. This means that if Riot Games wants to have a variety of meta options in the jungle, they should tweak those available champions. However, they put more jungle mechanics on other generals and then they have to edit the roles of junglers and lanes of those champions.

Garen, who is not a strong top laner, now enters the forest and receives fewer resources, not knowing how weak he is.

Moreover, the champions that they choose to test are not suitable for the role of jungle. In order to meet the requirements of this position, you must be able to gank very strong, farm very well, at least have the skills to fight. That is, their generals must be strong and move continuously to be effective.

It is not natural for Lee Sin to be the strongest jungler right now when he has enough damage, strong ganking, good target disputes and can create mutations in teamfights.

Meanwhile, names like Darius, Garen, Mordekaiser, Gnar are all in the grip of farming instead of moving wide and fighting continuously. Assassins like Diana, Zed, Talon all interact with the level and equipment, while the forest resources are greatly nerfed, bringing these names to the forest only makes them weak compared to adjusting it when going Sugar and your team have more “weights”. Not to mention that gamers “test a new way of playing” and ruin other people’s games.

Zed must have at least 2 Lethality to be able to assassinate effectively while Kayn only needs the jungler to be strong.

It is unknown if this is a serious project of Riot Games or they just want to test it, but adding these mechanisms in theory is quite redundant and unnecessary. Instead, they should try to buff long-forgotten heroes like Skarner, Ivern, Udyr, Kindred … rather than inserting new champions to make them disappear even longer.

Perhaps Ivern has a higher chance of appearing in the Arena of Truth than LoL
