Mikran is an enterprise of the Russian group of scientific research and manufacture of radio and electronic products. This company specializes in the development and manufacture of multi-purpose wireless communications devices, high-frequency measurement-control devices, as well as other complex products based on them.
One of Mikran’s most prominent defense products is a strategic tactical reconnaissance system for the armed forces of the Russian Federation, called “Glaz”. (Russian: Глаз / Eye).
“Glaz” is a combination of:
1. rocket launchers cum storage box function;
2.The compact observation device is launched from this launcher;
The “Glaz” combination allows the rapid collection of image and video data in emergency situations, in places where information is difficult to obtain by conventional means or endangering human life. A “simple but classic” situation where “Glaz” can work is for use in urban battles. Enemies are now out of sight of conventional optical observation devices: behind buildings, fences, or even on the roof of a building, etc.
When used, the soldier will use this missile launcher to shoot the observing device in the direction of the target. The ejection tube cum storage box is about 300 mm long and weighs about 400 g. It can be built as a maneuver or mounted as a remote-controlled launch system mounted on an armored vehicle.
At maximum height (up to 300 meters), this unit automatically parachutes and continuously transmits high resolution images in real time to the operator’s receiver. At this point, the device’s wide field of view will allow it to capture an image of an area of about 500-700 square meters.
The system can be configured to automatically rotate the “mini” camera in a certain direction after a specified amount of time, or to be controlled manually.
The advantage of “Glaz” compared to other types of reconnaissance devices (Drones, UAVs, …) is that it does not require recharging and does not require the user to have complicated control skills. Once zoomed in, the images and videos are transferred to the receiver in automatic mode. When combined with the information distribution system, all members of a combat team will receive images and make decisions as quickly as possible. This system has been actually tested in Syria.

In fact, the “Glaz” is a fairly simple and cheap combination of reconnaissance / reconnaissance equipment. All you need is a disposable battery, a Wi-Fi module, a camera and a signal receiver. With the motto of “multi-purpose, multi-media” design, Mikran scientists have expanded the adaptive capabilities of “Glaz” to the maximum when users only need to install specialized software on a machine. Anything (laptop, personal computer or even smartphone) that supports the 802.11n Wi-Fi standard can turn it into a signal receiver.

The latest version of the Glaz complex built by Mikran can be mounted on Armata tanks. It has up to seven launch tubes with a missile loader mounted on a swivel in the tank’s cockpit.
T-14 Armata (Russian: Т-14 Армата, GBTU identifier: Объект 148) is a fourth generation Russian-made main tank. This tank line was developed (at least) since 2009 and entered service with the Russian Army in 2016. It is considered the most modern and best tank in the world at the moment. because there is no chance to fight yet.
Armata is expected to become the highest-tech combat unit of the Russian tank force. In 2017, mass production was officially started and at the same time, military acceptance procedures were started. However, the refinement and improvement process doesn’t end there. Currently, engineers are still researching and developing new technologies to improve combat efficiency and bring comfort to the crew and this Glaz complex is one of them, in addition to the utility. like voice assistant (Russian: голосовой помощник, English: voice assistant) or fully functional restroom.
