MVP or “Most Valuable Player” is an acronym for the best player in a match and has a major impact on the final outcome. The MVP title of a major tournament like CKTG is an affirmation that that player is the most influential player, playing the best in the tournament. TUnfortunately we can only see one of those excellent players in action Worlds 2020 Upcoming.
Tian is the MVP of CKTG 2019
MVP list of Worlds:
2014 – Samsung White Mata
2015 – SKT T1 Marin
2016 – SKT T1 Faker
2017 – Samsung Galaxy Ruler
2018 – Invictus Gaming Ning
2019 – Funplus Phoenix Tian
For Mata, the best years of his career were under the Samsung White shirt when he won the Worlds 2014 and won the MVP title of the tournament. Then he went to China to play for 2 years (from the beginning of 2015 to the end of 2016) under the colors of Vici Gaming and Royal Never GiveUp. When he returned to Korea, he was with KT Rolster (from December 2016 to November 2018) and SKT T1 (from November 2018 to November 2019).
Mata won the MVP title of Worlds 2014
Mata then moved on to coaching for the Royal Never GiveUp team, but they failed to win any titles in the past year. Even at LPL Summer 2020, Mata’s RNG was only 9th in the standings and had no chance to attend the playoffs of the tournament.
Mata is facing a lot of difficulties when transitioning to the coach role
With Marin, he also retired after many years of fighting, the culmination of Marin’s career was of course the 2015 Worlds Championship and the MVP title of the tournament. Marin later joined teams like LGD Gaming (December 2015 to December 2016), Afreeca Freecs (December 2016 to November 2017) and Topsports Gaming (February 2018 to November. in 2018). Then he officially announced his retirement in early 2019.
Marin is the MVP of Worlds 2015
It seems that Marin’s personal life is extremely happy when a few days ago, the former SKT T1 player confirmed on stream that he had just married.
The radiant image of Marin at the wedding ceremony was passed on by the Korean League of Legends community
With the two most recent MVPs of the Worlds, Ning and Tian, this year 2020 is probably a sad memory for them. Both Invictus Gaming and Funplus Phoenix did not perform successfully in the Summer LPL 2020 when they failed to pass the regional qualifiers. Ning and Tian themselves both fell into form extremely quickly, there is no image of the “forest gods” any year, they seem to be just their own shadow in the past season.
Neither Ning nor Tian will be themselves in 2020
Two players Faker and Ruler did not fall into such a fast slump, they still play steadily and contribute to the team’s playstyle. However, during a season where DAMWON Gaming and DragonX made great progress, T1 or Gen.G can’t compete for the championship. This makes them look for their final ticket to Worlds 2020 through the regional qualifiers.
With DAMWON Gaming winning the LCK Summer 2020, DragonX has the 2nd seed, the Korean region only has 1 ticket to get to Worlds 2020. This means that among the players who have received the MVP CKTG , only Faker or Ruler could make it to this tournament. Even in a worse case, Afreeca Freecs was the final winner, both Faker and Ruler had to stay home to watch Worlds 2020 through the small screen.
It is possible that Faker and Ruler will have to eliminate each other to find tickets to Worlds 2020
