Motorcycle oil changes are common, but even the bald-headed car mechanic is still confused

In order for motorbikes to run smoothly and smoothly, for most common vehicles, it is advisable to change oil every 1,000 – 1,500 km. The engine oil acts to help the piston move up and down smoothly in the cylinder. In addition, the oil also has other effects such as: during the fuel combustion process, the emitted temperature is very large, the oil will have a cooling effect, avoiding the engine overheating or burning piston.

The oil also acts as a cushion to seal the gap between the piston and the cylinder wall so that the pressure generated in the fuel combustion process is not lost. At the same time, the oil can also wash away and clean up soot in the fuel burning process and prevent rusting of metal parts in the engine.

When the engine is working, details such as crankshaft, transmission rod, gear … will splash oil on the working surface of the lubricating part such as cylinder, crankcase, cam … In addition, a part of the oil splashed in mist will fall into the catch structures of other components that need lubrication such as the small end of the rod.

But it is a fact that when changing the oil of a motorcycle, most people do not pay attention to the oil capacity. For example, Honda’s popular cars, Honda Wave 110 S has an oil tank capacity of 0.8 liters, Honda Wave Alpha has an oil tank capacity of 0.7 liters, and Honda Super Dream is 0.7 liters. But when oil is changed, most auto repair shops or people who change their own will pour a whole 0.8 liter oil bottle into the storage compartment. This will lead to excess oil.

In vehicles with an oil tank capacity of 0.7 liters, pouring 0.8 liters, excess is obvious. But cars with a capacity of 0.8 liters when pouring 0.8 liters of oil will still be redundant, why is that?

Normally, when changing the oil at the car repair shop, there are two ways, the first and also the most “cheap” way will be to straighten the car with the middle kick, then open the oil tank and remove the oil drain plug. to remove the old oil from the motorcycle. The second way is to just open the oil tank, then put the hose in and use the vacuum to suck out the old oil out.

These operations are done very quickly, and when the oil is no longer flowing or can no longer suck, then the car is said to have run out of old oil. But this is completely wrong because old oil is still stuck in the engine’s details. Therefore, when pouring oil in, there will be a small amount of excess oil when pouring the correct amount of oil according to the parameters that the oil tank capacity can contain.

In addition, a 0.8 liter oil tank will actually be slightly overpaid by the manufacturer, so normally we just poured most of the tank, then start using the test stick to check and pour gradually.

Excess oil will lead to heavy engine performance, the engine will get warmer because this will reduce the air volume in the engine and cause oil stirring and air bubbles in the oil. It also leads to difficulty in starting the engine in the morning when cold weather and oil can be pushed more up the combustion chamber causing more piston deposits on the engine. This results in the oil being burned with the gasoline and causes black smoke in the engine exhaust. This long-term situation will shorten engine life.

How to make the oil level always reasonable?

Typical example of excess oil in the engine, the oil level exceeds the max mark of the oil probe. This will make the car hotter and more inert, in addition to lead to piston deposits, oil burned with gasoline …

The answer is very simple, is the dipstick test, this simple job is neglected by most people and even car repair fears.

Ordinary oil probes in most popular vehicles are located on the right side of the engine. In order to be able to test, we first have to put up the car’s center stand, then turn the dipstick counter-clockwise and then pull it out, wipe it off with a cloth or toilet paper. Place the dipstick in the oil gauge hole until it touches the tube but do not tighten it.

Next is to pull out the oil probe to check. On the car oil probe there is a check line, the upper line is also max and the bottom is min, usually there will be a diagonal gauze between these two lines.

If the oil level is lower than the min mark or near the min mark, it means the car is lacking oil, but if it exceeds the max mark, the car is in a state of excess oil and need to drain the oil. Usually the best oil should be between the min and max lines or the max mark can be reached.

This seemingly simple thing in fact is ignored and ignored by everyone. If you do not believe, try to check your car, most of them have excess oil.

If the car is lack of oil, it will lead to the situation that the engine will not be fully lubricated, even if it is not lubricated, it will cause abrasion of the cylinder parts, camshafts, and handlebars. motorcycle engine life.
