Mickey Mouse is one of the most famous cartoon characters for decades. It can be considered, this is the “mascot” of Disney, the studio was dubbed the Mouse House. However, with the development of the internet, urban legends and creepypasta, young people may have come to know a stranger, more macabre version of Mickey Mouse. Lucia Peters, Bustle’s deputy chief editor, did serious research on this Mickey version last year. As a result, we have the opportunity to know more about the creepy video of Mickey Mouse that has been circulating for years.
Creepypasta is an Internet horror genre, the source of many haunting photos and videos with horrific stories that will make you feel creepy. For example, the creepypasta about Smile Dog, these stories have no clear origin, but only became famous and circulated online.
One of the outstanding creepypasta is about Mickey Mouse, called “Suicidemouse.avi”. According to the story, this is a lost cartoon episode of Mickey. It was discovered when film critic Leonard Maltin was checking out old Mickey cartoon episodes, to decide which episodes should be converted to DVD format.
This video is one of the most haunting things in the internet world, or at least it is so called. Since 2009, it has had 1.1 million views on YouTube.
The video begins with Mickey Mouse, walking down the street with his hand behind his head, his head lowered. The weird, creepy sound of the piano in the background makes viewers instantly chilled. About one and a half minutes passed, the screen went black. It seems that when found, the black screen segment lasted up to 6 minutes. It was edited, and when the animation came back, things seemed even more monstrous.
Mickey was still walking down the street, but in the video a man could be heard screaming. More voices appeared, different screams mixed in one. The animation begins to twist, distort, and eventually Mickey’s face disappears, leaving only a faint, obscure pinch of black and white.
The story behind this famous creepypasta is even darker. When Maltin first saw this video, he was obsessed with it, he left his room and made his assistant watch the note to take notes. The watch guard that night said the assistant, after watching the video, muttered seven times “The endurance is really worthless”, then grabbed the guard’s gun and killed himself.
This shady, horror story makes Mickey’s video one of the legendary creepypasta. But that’s not the truth, it’s just a fabrication.
“Suicidemouse.avi” was created in the 1930s, but journalist Lucia Peters argued that its animation was not similar to the Mickey episodes made at the time, not even trying to imitate to resemble it. She said that the presence of this video and the story behind it is only intended to weave, creating creepypasta about the “lost animation episodes” later, which is very much interested. Famous animated movies all have a “dark version” of themselves, like Doraemon, Phineas and Ferb, Tom and Jerry, etc.
“Suicidemouse.avi” became so famous and persuasive, so it was difficult to deny it. However, the creepypasta’s credibility with the children’s favorite Mouse opened up more scary stories for other animated series. These “lost versions” are completely untrue, as are the stories of the victims behind them. However, this is still an interesting topic to learn and entertain.
