To continue the Hackintosh installation series available on Knowledge Sharing Blog, today I will continue to show you how to install macOS on Laptop and PC with OpenCore Bootloader in the easiest way.

Note that in this article I will not mention Clover Bootloader, so if you want to install macOS on your PC/Laptop with this bootloader, please review the previous articles on the topic of Hackintosh on the Knowledge Sharing Blog. !

#first. What to prepare?

1. How to choose hardware (Laptop or PC) to be compatible and run well Hackintosh. You can review your hardware selection guide here!
2. Installer macOS and create macOS installation USB with OpenCore Bootloader. You can review my tutorial on creating a USB to install macOS with this bootloader here (very full link guys)!
3. See the best BIOS setup for installing macOS. See instructions here!
4. Prepare a new hard drive (or a hard drive without data). Because during the installation process, you will have to erase all your data (so please copy all important data before installation). And if you want to run both Windows and macOS in parallel, please wait for my next articles.

#2. Steps to install Hackintosh on Laptop/PC with OpenCore Bootloader

+ Step 1:

After plugging the USB Hackintosh into the machine, you proceed to access Boot Menu => select the USB device that contains the macOS installer (here mine is UEFI:USB Flash Disk 1100) => and press Enter to perform the booting process into the macOS installer.

Below is a list of Boot menu keys that mainboard manufacturers use, please refer to it.

• ASUS Boot Menu Key:

  ESC or F2

• Acer’s Boot Menu key:

  F2 or Del

• Dell’s Boot Menu Key:

  F2

• HP’s Boot Menu Key:

  ESC, F10 or F1

• Lenovo Boot Menu key:

  F1 or F2

• Samsung’s Boot Menu key:

  F2 or F1

• Asrock’s Boot Menu key:

  F11

+ Step 2:

After entering the macOS installer, we will get as shown below.

You use the arrow keys to point at the text with the name: Install macOS + [tên phiên bản] (external)

Here I use the macOS Mojave installer to install Hackintosh, so I will choose the text: Install macOS Mojave (external). You press the key Enter on the keyboard to proceed to boot into the Hackintosh installer.

+ Step 3:

After successfully booting into the installer, we will get the screen as shown below.

+ Step 4:

At this step, you have NOT pressed Continue instead, you must reformat the hard drive to be able to install macOS.

To do this, please do the following: You move the mouse on the item Utilities => and choose Disk Utility.

After entering Disk Utility We will get the following image:

+ Step 5:

You press View => choose Show all devices to display all the hard drives/USB/external storage devices in the computer.

+ Step 6:

Please select the hard drive to install macOS (here mine is SSD 128GB Media) => then press Erase => then enter the following information:

• Part Name:

  You can leave any name you like (here I will put it as New Volume)

• Format section:

  You to be Mac OS Extended (Journaled). If you want to install macOS Catalina or above, it is required to be APFS Hey guys.

• Scheme section:

  You to be GUID Partition Map (GPT).

=> After setting up the necessary information => you press Erase to proceed with reformatting the hard drive.

+ Step 7:

After formatting the hard drive, we proceed to exit Disk Utility. Return to the macOS installation screen => you press Continue to continue.

+ Step 8:

You press Continue => choose Agree to accept the macOS terms of use.

+ Step 9:

You choose the hard drive you need to install macOS on (here mine is New Volume) => then press Continue to proceed with the installation.

Step 10:

The macOS installation process will take about 15-20 minutes depending on the speed of your computer. During this time, you should not touch the computer to avoid risks.

+ Step 11:

After installing macOS, your computer will restart by itself. At this time, do not rush to remove the USB, because at this time the computer will not have a bootloader to boot into macOS for you.

You just keep the USB there, continue to go back to the boot menu and then select the hard drive to install macOS earlier (mine is New Volume) => then press Enter to proceed to boot into macOS.

+ Step 12:

After booting into the macOS installer, we will get as shown below. You proceed to select the country / region (here we will choose Việt Nam) => and press Continue to continue.

+ Step 13:

This is the step to select the language for the keyboard. You should be ABC (because Vietnamese keyboard is not really good) => then press Continue

+ Step 14:

This step you choose is My computer does not connect to the Internet => and press Continue to continue.

Continue, you press Continue to move on to the next step.

+ Step 15:

At this step macOS will ask if we want to transfer data to macOS. Here we will choose Don’t transfer any information now => then press Continue to continue.

You press Agree => Agree to agree to the macOS terms of use.

+ Step 16:

In this step you will create yourself an account (User on Windows) to be able to use macOS. You will enter the following information:

• account name
• Password (required)

=> After filling in this information, press Continue to continue.

+ Step 17:

This is a step to tweak some settings for macOS. But in my opinion you should just leave them as is, do not touch them at all.

This is the step to choose a theme for macOS. Here I will choose the dark interface (Dark Mode) to look cool

The machine will take a short time to be able to enter macOS.

So we have already entered macOS. It’s also very simple, guys ^^!
