To continue the series of Hackintosh installation on the Knowledge Sharing Blog, today I will continue to show you how to

install macOS on Laptop or PC

in the most detailed and easy to understand.

#first. What needs to be prepared?

1. A compatible set of hardware (Laptop or PC). About how to choose hardware, you can review my article here!
2. Install macOS and create USB install macOS with Clover bootloader. You can review the tutorial on creating USB install macOS on your blog here!

3. How to set up BIOS to install macOS. You can review the BIOS setup guide to install your macOS here!
4. A new hard drive (or a hard drive with no data). Because during the macOS installation process, you will have to erase all of your data (So you should safely copy all your data before installing). If you want to run both macOS and Windows in parallel, please wait for my next article.
5. Time and patience 🙂

II. Install macOS on Laptop or PC DELL, ASUS….

+ Step 1:

After plugging the Hackintosh USB into your computer, you proceed to the Boot Menu => select the USB device containing the macOS installer (my here is UEFI: USB Flash Disk 1100) => and press Enter to perform booting into the macOS installer.

Here is a list of boot menu keys that manufacturers use, you can refer to it.

• ASUS boot menu key: ESC or F2
• Acer’s boot menu key: F2 or Del
• Dell boot menu key: F2
• HP boot menu key: ESC, F10 or F1
• Lenovo boot menu key: F1 or F2
• Samsung boot menu key: F2 or F1
• Asrock boot menu key: F11

+ Step 2:

After entering the macOS installer, we will be as shown below:

Use the arrow keys on the keyboard to point to the icon named: Boot macOS Install from [Tên bộ cài].

Here I use the installer macOS High Sierra to Hackintosh, so I will choose the icon: Boot macOS Install from Install macOS High Sierra. You press the key Enter to proceed with booting into the installer.

After booting into the installer successfully we will be as follows:

+ Step 3:

At this screen you have not clicked Continue Now, I need to reformat the hard drive to be able to install macOS.

To do this go to the section Utilities => select Disk Utility.

+ Step 4:

After entering the screen Disk Utility We will be as follows:

You press View => Select Show all Devices.

+ Step 5:

You choose the hard drive to install macOS (mine is SSD 128GB Media) => then press Erase => and press Erase, and then fill in the following information:

• Name:

  You should set it to MacOS (for convenience in the following steps!)

• Format:

  You let be Mac OS Extended (Journaled)If you want to install macOS Catalina or later, you must be APFS!

• Scheme:

  You let be GUID Partition Map

=> After the setup is complete, please press Erase to reformat the hard drive.

After formatting the hard drive, exit Disk Utility. Go back to the macOS installation screen, press Continue to continue.

You press Continue => Agree to accept macOS’s terms of use.

+ Step 6:

Select the hard drive that you need to install macOS on (earlier I named the hard drive as MacOS) => then press Continue to proceed with the installation.

+ Step 7:

The installation process will take about 15 – 20 minutes depending on the speed of your computer. During this time, it is best not to touch the machine to avoid a risk.

You should go outside, make a coffee or do an exercise, instead of keeping your eyes on the screen.

+ Step 8:

Once macOS is installed, the computer will reboot. Now do not hurry to remove the USB, but leave it there because at this time the computer does not have a bootloader to boot into macOS.

=> Now you will select the hard drive to install macOS earlier (my name is MacOS) => then press Enter to boot.

At this point, the boot screen will slowly load, please wait.

+ Step 9:

After booting into macOS, we will be as shown below. You proceed to choose Quốc gia/vùng (Here we will choose is Vietnam) => and press Continue to continue.

+ Step 10:

This is the step to select the language of the keyboard, you should choose is ABC (because the Vietnamese keyboard on macOS is not really good) => and press Continue to continue.

+ Step 11:

You choose My computer does not connect to the Internet => and press Continue to continue.

You press Continue to continue.

+ Step 12:

In this step macOS will ask us if we want to transfer data to macOS. You choose Don’t transfer any information now => and press Continue to continue.

You press Agree => Agree to agree to the terms of macOS.

+ Step 13:

In this step you will create an account for yourself to use macOS. You will enter:

• account name
• Password (required)

After finishing typing, press Continue to continue.

Here’s how to tweak some macOS settings. But in my opinion, you just leave it, do not touch anything.

It may take a while for macOS to set up.

We are now on the macOS desktop!

III. Epilogue
