Ahead of Half-Life: Alyx is about to launch in March 2020, Valve has decided to play the Half-Life game for free with Opposing Force and Blue Shift expansion packs (DLC). At the same time, Half-Life 2 and both Half-Life 2: Episode One and Episode Two are also given by Valve to release the door.
This is a move by Valve to promote the upcoming Alyx. This section takes place before Half-Life 2 and has the same characters, plot elements. That’s why they believe that the best way to enjoy Alyx is to play through the previous installments, especially Half-Life 2 and episodes. So Valve was open to gamers for free within the next 2 months, until Alyx debuted.
