Tom and Jerry is a funny cartoon series that has been associated with many people’s childhood. Entering 2020, this legendary couple has also turned 81 years old. To mark the long journey of the dumb cat and the clever mouse, a unique exhibition showcasing the image of the defeated Tom was held in Japan.
Tom and Jerry – A prestigious series
The animated series Tom and Jerry, produced by William Hanna and Joseph Barbera, have had 13 Oscar nominations and 7 awards for best short animated film category. With such a number of awards, the series currently holds the record for the anime that won the most Oscars.
Not only was it highly appreciated for its awards, but in 2000, the series was also voted by Time magazine as one of the best TV shows of all time.
The exhibition is unique
The story of the relentless chase between Tom cat and Jerry mouse is very familiar to so many generations of audiences around the world. Surely many people still remember the funny, thrilling scenes between the two characters. Moreover, an indispensable part when mentioning the series is the scene of Tom being deformed due to impact or defeat by the mischief of Jerry mouse.
To celebrate the journey of more than 80 years of the injustice couple Tom – Jerry, in Japan there was a unique exhibition displaying not only souvenirs of the series but also deformed Tom models.
The exhibition bears an entire sky of childhood
For visitors, the exhibition brought them back to childhood. The image of Tom cat is big but always gives in “pain” because Jerry mouse is present in every corner of the exhibition. From familiar images such as water bottles, cubes, flattened heads to rolled along the stairs … of Tom are very accurately reproduced and almost identical to the prototype in the film.
The organizers even thoughtfully arranged more TV screens to replay each corresponding video. Below each exhibit artifact has a specific description of the information, making it easy for visitors to recall the episodes watched as well as memories of childhood.
