Dragon Ball suddenly doubled One Piece in the quarterly revenue race of Joe Animation

This is not too surprising news for Dragon Ball fans. According to Toei Animation’s Q4 / 2020 revenue announcement, Dragon Ball continues to outstrip its competitors on the revenue chart. Recently, producer Toei Animation has announced their sales for the three months of Q4 / 2020 as of January 1, 2020 – March 31, 2020.

Note: You may wonder why 1/1 – 31/3 is Quarter 4 and not Quarter 1? Please be explained that 1 year of Toei is calculated skewed. Specifically, a Toei Animation year is from April 2019 to March 20, 2020, so January 1 – March 31 will be Q4.

Toei Animation’s total revenue for 3 months is 41015 million yen, including over 3 segments divided as follows:

1. DOMESTIC REVENUE

– Total revenue: 15235 million yen

– Top 1 – Dragon Ball: 7656 million yen (50.2%)

– Top 3 – Pretty Cure: 801 million yen (5.3%)

According to the preliminary assessment, the revenue of the fourth quarter of Dragon Ball has increased compared to the third quarter of 2020 and will completely increase until Dragon Ball Super part 2 is released. But anyway, it still has to give praise to Dragon Ball for maintaining the top of the revenue while Dragon Ball Super has stopped broadcasting for 2 years.
