Microsoft is starting to launch a new set of application icons on Windows 10, designed to modernize the operating system’s interface. Updates for a range of built-in Windows 10 apps are now available to Fast Ring users of Windows 10, with new application icons that follow Microsoft’s Fluent design principles. New icons for Mail and Calendar are also being released on the Windows 10 Release Preview channel, meaning that it will only be a few days before anyone using this operating system will receive the update.

This new symbol change is part of the Fluent design that Microsoft uses to modernize its software and services. All of the new icons will appear on Windows 10X, an operating system designed specifically for dual-screen devices. Windows 10 on traditional laptops and desktops will undoubtedly be refreshing, but it’s unclear if we’ll see the Windows logo or the new Start menu design.
