Last month, ZTE officially unveiled the Axon 20 5G – the world’s first hidden camera smartphone. Shortly thereafter, the Vsmart Aris Pro was also released to the market and was the second phone model equipped with this unique selfie camera technology.
While most users are expecting a similar device from Samsung, Xiaomi, OPPO or Huawei, recently, Japan’s Rakuten brand has just launched the Rakuten BIG as the third smartphone in the world. Selfie camera hidden under the screen.
The Rakuten BIG has physical dimensions of 174 x 80 x 9mm and weighs 227 grams. The phone has a 6.9-inch OLED display with Full HD + resolution (1080 x 2460 pixels), uses Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 765G processor and comes with 6GB of RAM.
The device has 128GB of internal memory, and supports storage expansion via microSD card. It comes with Android 10 pre-installed on sale and comes with a 4000mAh battery, though it’s unclear if it supports fast charging.
The selfie camera of Rakuten BIG is integrated below the screen, with a resolution of 32MP. In addition, the machine is also equipped with a system of 4 vertically arranged cameras on the back, including a 64MP main sensor, an 8MP super wide-angle camera, 2MP macro camera and 2MP depth sensor for portrait photography.
The phone supports IP68 water and dust resistance. It supports eSIM, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 5.0, NFC and uses a USB-C connection.
Rakuten BIG has officially been on the shelves in Japan with a retail price of 69800 JPY (about 15.4 million VND). The device has 3 color versions for users to choose from, including Black, White and Red. Currently, it is not clear whether the Rakuten BIG will be sold in other markets.
