, we were shared by a “smart” husband about the journey to buy a dishwasher to keep the family happy. However, many people before coming to the decision “down the money” want to know: does the dishwasher use water or not?
If you ask this question to the seller, the answer you will receive will definitely be: You can rest assured, this machine is very economical. However, the approximate number is that few people can give specific.
Today, let’s test it out: How much electricity and water do you use to wash dishes with a washing machine?
The first part is the theory: What is the power consumption of a dishwasher used for?
As you know, dishwashers clean items by spraying hot water jets under high pressure. So there are 2 things that consume the most power:
1. Pump: Depending on the model (model), the pump will have different capacity, but on average, it ranges from 150-180W. This pump is also used to discharge wastewater.
2. Heating element: Like super kettles or water heaters, the water heater (burning rod) consumes about 1500-2000W of electricity per hour.
In addition, the LED lights on the dishwasher’s control panel also consume a bit of electricity, but not much.
Thus, the power of a dishwasher will fall below 2000W, that is
If running continuously without rest at the maximum, every hour will cost 2 electricity (more than 3000 VND).
In the case of this machine, in the specifications listed on the machine door
Power ranges from 2000 to 2400 W.
Amount of water used in the dishwasher:
According to manufacturers, dishwashers consume very little water: only about 6-20 liters (depending on the type of machine). Compared to washing by hand (about 30-40 liters of water each time), then the dishwasher saves 2 to 4 times.
I use an outlet that has a timer function, shows instantaneous power, min/max power and measures total power consumption. When the load is consumed, the timer starts, and if the power consumption is too low (less than 1 W), the clock will stop.
Power below 1W, the clock will stop counting
After 30 seconds, the power is 18.1 W
About the country:
The dishwasher drain hose is plugged into a 20 liter paint bucket. If it’s the type of barrel with level markings, it will be more accurate but unfortunately it is not available around me.
The process of installing a dishwasher in an apartment
Bowls, pots and pans all day, I put into washing a batch in the evening and using Eco mode (saving). This dishwasher has several washing modes such as 70 degree wash, 1 hour quick wash, glass wash… but I’ve only used this Eco mode before because it’s simple, only having to press the power button and the button. Start.
In this mode, the washing time indicator is 3 hours 15 minutes (195 minutes). Looking at the number is terrifying – that’s more than 6 electricity numbers (18 thousand VND)? Is there really so much?
After 20 minutes, the new wastewater has very little, probably about 1 cup (cup) of tea.
After 1 hour and 03 minutes, the amount of wastewater did not increase, that is, in more than 1 hour from the time it started running, the machine almost did not discharge wastewater. This is also not unusual because dishwashers use a circulation pump.
Water color is still clear. Perhaps it will discharge the water when it is too dirty to be used again.
After 2 hours 07 minutes, the discharge water was cloudy yellow and hot. It looks like this place holds about 2-3 liters.
After 2 hours and 27 minutes, the wastewater swelled up quite a lot and the color was darker and more opaque. Holding the barrel feels quite heavy, I guess that place is about 1/3 of the barrel – ie around 6 liters.
When the alarm showed only 3 minutes, I pulled up the top of the drain hose to easily see how the water was pumped out.
The inside of the machine gurgled, probably the sound of the pump pushing the last of the water out. In fact, this last rinse didn’t give out as much water as I expected, probably only equivalent to a mouthwash.
Measure the power and water consumption of the dishwasher: too economical!
When the machine runs for 2 hours 44 minutes, the power consumption is 0.629 kW, and at the end completely at 3 hours 07 minutes, this figure is 0.630 kW – 1/3 lower than the manufacturer’s specifications. is 0.93 kWh.
In the last 23 minutes, the electricity consumption was only 0.001 kW, which is 1/1000 of electricity. Thus, during operation, the amount of power consumed changes but is not fixed.
The machine said 3 hours 15 minutes (195 minutes) but the clock stopped counting at 3:07 minutes – that is, “done early” about 8 minutes. The reason for this difference, I think, can be due to several reasons:
1.During operation, sometimes the power consumption of the machine is very low, so the clock stops counting.
2.The initial display time is only an estimate, not exact to the minute.
3. The electrical measuring device is fake, so the error is much. This is okay!
With a level 1 domestic electricity price of 1,678 VND/kWh, the machine consumes 0.63 kWh equivalent to
equivalent to about 1,057 VND (One thousand zero hundred fifty-seven dong).
About the country:
Since I don’t have a measuring device, the amount of water I can only approximate is less than half a barrel. It seems that the water consumption of this dishwasher is quite consistent with the manufacturer’s announced parameters of about 9.5 liters / batch.
If we take the figure 9.5 (0.0095 m3) and calculate according to the domestic water price in my area is 5,973 VND/m3, the amount of water for 1 wash is 56.73 VND,
approximately 57 dong (fifty-seven dong).
Including electricity and water, washing a batch of dishes will cost about 1.1 thousand dong, or one thousand one hundred dong (1100 dong).
Thus, if only electricity is counted
Every month (30 days) my house will cost about 19 electricity numbers (equivalent to nearly 32 thousand VND).
while the water bill increased insignificantly (about 1 thousand 7 hundred dong)
. In return, I have a lot more free time and the dishes are always clean.
