There are mysteries that cause scientists to raise their hands and retreat when facing them. Past unknown civilizations, mysterious artifacts, and even inexplicable monoliths have no explanation yet:
1. Mysterious monolithic pieces of metal of unknown origin
These two pieces of metal were discovered in the US in November 2020. One was in a remote area of Red Rock Canyon State Park and mysteriously disappeared as it appeared. The other is in Piatra Neamt, Romania.

As soon as it was discovered, these two metal blocks made the world scratch their heads because of its mysteriousness. Some people think that this resembles the rock from the 2001 novel: A Space Odyssey, which appeared on Earth 3 million years ago by a race of aliens to develop life. Either way, it gives scientists a headache when they cannot catch the person responsible for these two metal lumps.
2. Antarctica was once a tropical climate area
Antarctica is known to be the coldest and most remote continent in the world. You will be laughed at if you think this place was once a warm area with lush greenery, home to birds, marine animals and even dinosaurs. But in fact, it is true!

Scientists have collected some fossil remains of animals living only in the tropics on James Ross Island (Antarctic peninsula) dating back 71 million years. This is just a super powerful turn of nature
3. Lost civilization in the Kalahari desert
In the late 19th century, explorer William Leonard Hunt found ancient remains of a mysterious civilization during an expedition to the Kalahari Desert in Africa, with his adopted son.

They took pictures and re-sketched the area using all their carry-on equipment. Farini claimed to have seen ancient ruins of a lost civilization and made sure the area was never mentioned in mainstream history books. This statement shocked the archeology industry at that time and attracted many prominent scholars. Many expeditions have been made to find the lost city, however, that civilization has yet to be found.
4. Ancient stone inscriptions were washed ashore on the Mexican coast
Sinaloa stone carvings located on the Pacific coast, in the south of Sinaloa state (Mexico), still make scientists a headache when mentioning. They are inscriptions describing humanoids and animals in a somewhat abstract direction, accompanied by geometric shapes such as circles, spirals and crosses.

The origin and meaning of the inscriptions have yet to be decoded, as they date from 1000 BC to 300 AD. Referring to them, the scientists changed the subject.
5. Huge footprint in a temple in Syria
Located at Syria’s Ain Dara Temple, these giant footprints are found throughout the entrance to the sacred temple.

The size of these footprints is 3 times that of human feet, but there is still a lot of debate about whether they are supposed to belong to a giant, human or animal. It is still unclear what species this footprint belongs to, but many Syrians believe it is the footprint of a supreme god entering the temple.
6. Extremely advanced technology lying on the ocean floor after a millennium
Restored in 1901 from a shipwreck near the island of Antikythera. This device is used to track the cycles of the Solar System, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn.
The image of the watch surprised scientists
This “celestial clock” even shows which stars grow on specific days. The technology of this device is very advanced and has never been discovered in all its history. The origin of this watch remains a mystery to modern science.
7. The soccer balls in Costa Rica
These giant stone spheres are the work of a pre-Colombian civilization dating back to the 600s BC. According to archaeologists, they were carved using other, smaller stones.

Some people speculate that these works are used for navigation or for astronomical research. Their true purpose remains a mystery as the civilization that created these spheres has long since disappeared.
8. Gobekli Tepe
A ruin at Gobekli Tepe
Archaeologists discovered this area in Turkey and named it Gobekli Tepe. This area has very detailed and meticulous carved stone pillars. Scientists estimate this place dates from the 10th millennium BC and this makes it the world’s oldest temple.
