In the horror film, haunted works like The Conjuring, Paranormal Activity or The Grudge are always loved with the horror coming from the house that seemed to be familiar to us. The strange sounds, mysterious figures seem to be harmless, and hidden horrors that no one expected. Following these successes, Swedish cinema introduced Devil’s Boundaries as a new breeze of ghost house genre with attractive content and quality scares.

The Grudge (2004)
As an American remake of Takashi Shimizu’s Ju-On: The Grudge (2002), The Grudge has helped this Japanese horror brand be famous worldwide. The film opens with the tragic murder case when wife Kayako and son Toshio are brutally murdered by husband Takeo. Their resentment became two ghosts to haunt the house and spread a curse of death to those who dared to enter. In turn, each family, their relatives or the police investigating have received tragic outcomes after arriving here.
Paranormal Activity (2007)
Paranormal Activity is a work that redefined the line of horror movies in the style of found footage, and at the same time brought a huge profit with nearly 200 million dollars compared to a budget of only 15,000 USD. The film is shown through handheld cameras or the security cameras of Micah and Katie shortly after moving into a new home. Here, supernatural phenomena continuously take place every night while they are sleeping or in another room. Things get more and more serious until a gruesome ending suddenly strikes.
The Conjuring (2013)
The Conjuring is a brand that contributes to the name of “horror king” James Wan. The first part of the series follows the exorcist couple Warren to a farm in Harrisville, Rhode Island (USA). This is the dream home that the Perron family just moved in. However, they constantly have horrible experiences in every corner of the house when the clock hits exactly 3:07 a.m. After entering the investigation, the Warren was shocked to realize that this was the evil spirit of the witch Bathsheba – who sacrificed her own son and sold the soul to Satan.
Like many other families, Eric and Amy Bowen in Poltergeist expressed happiness when buying a cheap home for the whole family. However, the joy quickly turned into a nightmare when they constantly heard strange noises in the night, the electric appliances constantly turned on and off automatically. Not only that, the youngest daughter Madison became bizarre when sitting in front of the TV with no signal and chatting alone. As it turned out, their house was built on top of an old cemetery and the souls were pouring their rage down on the Bowen family.
Devil’s Boundaries (2020) – Horror film based on real events
Demon Boundaries are based on a true story from the experiences of director Tord Danielsson. In 2014, he was in contact with a family that had just gone through mysterious events. They claim that there is a dark entity trying to capture the son, forcing the family to move elsewhere.
Shortly thereafter, it was Tord Danielsson’s turn to move into a flat-floor apartment. As the neighbor moved out, he kept hearing strange noises like someone going up and down the attic at exactly the same time every night. These scary memories are summarized into works by him with the expectation that will elevate the Swedish horror genre – which has produced quality works such as Let The Right One In (2008), The Woman in Black (2012) and Midsommar (2019).
The story of Demon’s Boundary will revolve around Shirin, with Fredrik and his son Lucas, who just bought a cheap cross-floor apartment in the suburbs. When Fredrik was forced to work away from home on the weekends, Lucas suddenly had a new friend from the abandoned house next door. At the same time, Shirin also began to witness horrifying events from the attic and realized a demonic force was plotting to possess Lucas’s soul.
The work exploits fear coming from a familiar context with creepy sounds in the middle of the night, children’s souls lurking in the dark or terror by forces beyond human understanding. Devil’s Boundary promises to be one of the most terrifying and creepy experiences at the end of this year.
Devil’s Boundary opens in theaters nationwide on November 6, 2020.
